Who: Art and Environment class at USF
What: One-page front and back zine
Why: The assignment brief was to create a zine (self published magazine) about relationships among native Californian species.🌱 Immediately, I knew I wanted to make mine about a special keystone species of Monterey Bay🌊: the Southern Sea Otter🦦. Being one to inspire ocean conservation in the next generation, I geared my design towards a younger audience of school kids🧑🏫 and added things such as fun facts, child-level vernacular, and a vocabulary bank in order to engage them.

After creating the illustrations in Procreate, I used Adobe InDesign to composite my text and pictures. 🎨🖌️
As is the nature of many zines, my complete design can be printed onto a single piece of paper and then folded to create individual pages which allows the design to be mass-produced. As the design is opened up, it reveals a full page poster of Sea Otters for kids to hang up at home. 🖼️
