Who: Typography Class at USF
What: Book Cover Design
Why: In my typography🔡 class during Fall 2021 at USF I was challenged with redesigning an existing book cover📕 and to implement text and image in a way that communicates the themes of the book. The book I chose was Travels with Charley, in which John Steinbeck documents the adventures he and his dog🐩, Charley, encounter while traveling across the United States in their camper van.

In order to encapsulate the idea of documenting one's travels🗺️, I composed a collection of letters✉️, postcards, and a map to create a messy desk looking setting. I then handlettered✍️ the title on a piece of parchment📜 to create a rustic and personal feel as if Steinbeck had written it himself.
